Our client, an engineering and project delivery organization serving the Oil & Gas industry, is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support the successful execution of engineering, fabrication, and field projects.
This opportunity is best suited for candidates with experience in process equipment design and fabrication, including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, structural steel, spooling, assembly, IC&E, and related industrial systems, along with the ability to interpret and develop PFDs, P&IDs, and other engineering deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review engineering deliverables including drawings, specifications, calculations, reports, P&IDs, datasheets, material requisitions, and technical documentation while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements Support the planning, coordination, and execution of multidisciplinary engineering, fabrication, and field projects from detailed design through fabrication and delivery Collaborate closely with project managers, process engineering teams, procurement, vendors, subcontractors, fabrication personnel, and clients to ensure successful project execution Coordinate engineering activities with drafting, fabrication, and production teams to maintain alignment between office and shop operations Monitor project schedules, deliverables, technical requirements, and budgets to support projects remaining on track and within scope Participate in project meetings by providing technical expertise, problem-solving support, and coordination assistance Conduct site and fabrication shop visits to monitor progress, identify risks, and ensure compliance with project specifications and safety requirements Support execution of oil & gas processing, helium processing, and related energy infrastructure projects Coordinate project documentation including purchase orders, change orders, technical records, and document control activities Assist with project proposals, estimating, budgeting, scheduling, and resource planning activities Maintain clear communication among internal teams and external stakeholders while supporting continuous improvement initiatives Support client-facing communication activities and provide technical coordination throughout project execution
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Alberta required or actively pursuing designation for intermediate-level candidates 5-8 years of Project Engineering experience within the Oil & Gas or energy industry Previous EPF or EPFCM (Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication, Construction & Management) experience is required Experience supporting projects involving engineering, fabrication, field execution, and industrial facility operations Strong understanding of engineering principles, project execution methodologies, and Oil & Gas industry practices Familiarity with applicable industry codes, standards, and regulatory requirements Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal teams and clients Proven ability to work in fast-paced multidisciplinary project environments while managing multiple priorities Compensation & Benefits Competitive compensation package based on experience and qualifications Opportunity to work on complex and technically challenging Oil & Gas projects Collaborative and entrepreneurial team environment Long-term career growth and professional development opportunities Exposure to multidisciplinary engineering, fabrication, and project delivery operations Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
