Our software helps manage natural resources across Alberta: platforms for forestry land management, weather data processing that feeds wildfire risk modelling, and systems that track watershed health and fish migration province-wide. We also build the software used to manage clinical trials in Alberta.

You will contribute to real projects from your first week, with code review and mentorship from senior developers.

This is a good fit for someone early in their career who wants exposure to the full breadth of a project rather than a single layer of it.

Key aspects of the role:

• Work as part of a small, collaborative agile development team focused on full-stack development, with exposure to every piece of the project
• Build web-based applications in Java and Spring Framework, with a React/TypeScript frontend, backed by PostgreSQL and Apache Solr, using Rabbit
• MQ for asynchronous processing (current stack: Java 21, Spring Boot 3, React 18)
• Get exposure to spatial-oriented projects using open source libraries such as Post
• GIS, Geoserver, Geotools, and Open
• Layers
• Tackle hard technical problems with support from a team that values continuous learning
• Focus on our web platforms (not mobile), though opportunities on our offline-first Android field data collection apps may arise later

Must have:

• Legally permitted to work in Canada
• Degree in computing science or computer engineering
• Solid fundamentals: data structures, SQL and relational databases, version control with Git, and the basics of how the web works
• Programming experience in Java, TypeScript/JavaScript, or Python (coursework, co-op terms, and personal projects all count)
