Junior Civil or Geotechnical Engineer

We are currently looking for an individual, who enjoys technical challenges and is seeking to gain a variety of project experience, to join our Edmonton Office. The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking or contributing to a diversity of civil/geotechnical engineering projects, under the guidance of experienced professional engineers, with a focus on geotechnical projects.

This position will include the responsibilities of a Junior Geotechnical Engineer. Competency at one (or more) of the type of geotechnical engineering services we provide is a must.

This position will require traveling across Alberta (may include British Columbia and Saskatchewan as well). Having a Class 5 driver's license is a MUST, and the candidate may be required to drive company vehicles.

Owning a truck and using it for work is considered to be an asset (we pay standard rate mileage) but is not a requirement.

Technical Skills

• • Visual classification of soils and rocks with reasonable accuracy is deemed an asset.
• Experience in geotechnical design (such as shallow and deep foundations and retaining walls) is viewed as an asset.
• Competence in using Geotechnical Engineering software is considered an asset (Geostudio, LPile, Geosystems, gINT, SR Wall)
• Experience in soil compaction testing using a nuclear density gauge is deemed an asset.
• Experience in concrete construction QA/QC is viewed as an asset.
• Experience in laboratory testing of soils, rock, concrete, oil sand, tailings, and asphalt is viewed as an asset
• Competency in using Auto CAD is considered an asset.
• CCIL certificate for concrete testing or aggregate testing is viewed as an asset.

The ideal candidate would also have the following requirements

• • The successful candidate will be punctual and possess good character and attitude: can get along with all kinds of personalities.
• The successful candidate will be a fluent English Speaker, as well as, a competent technical English writer skilled in proofreading and copy-editing.
