The Role

The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing the integrity of Capital A Berhad's financial reporting, statutory compliance, and financial governance. The role ensures the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, maintains a robust internal control environment, and supports the Group's financial stewardship as a public listed company.

Working closely with the Group CFO and key stakeholders, the Financial Controller will drive financial excellence, regulatory compliance, and continuous process improvement across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure timely completion of statutory reporting, Bursa Malaysia reporting requirements, annual reports and regulatory submissions.
• Oversee the Group's financial closing process to ensure accuracy, completeness and timeliness of reporting.
• Manage the external audit process and act as the primary liaison with external auditors, regulators and relevant authorities.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable financial reporting standards, taxation requirements and statutory obligations.
• Strengthen and maintain effective financial controls, governance practices and accounting policies across the Group.
• Review and enhance financial processes, internal controls and reporting frameworks to improve operational efficiency and mitigate financial risks.
• Partner with business leaders to provide financial insights and recommendations that support informed business decisions.
• Support the Group CFO in Board, Audit Committee and management reporting requirements.
• Lead, coach and develop the finance team while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and high performance.
• Support strategic initiatives, corporate exercises and other finance-related projects as required.

Candidate Profile

Experience

• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in finance, accounting and financial reporting.
• Proven experience as a Financial Controller, Senior Finance Manager or equivalent leadership role.
• Mandatory experience in a public listed company environment.
• Prior external audit experience with a recognised audit firm is required.
• Strong experience managing statutory reporting, financial governance, external audits and regulatory compliance.
• Experience leading finance teams and driving finance transformation or process improvement initiatives will be an advantage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.

Certifications

• Mandatory member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).
• Professional accounting qualification (e.g. Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), CPA Australia, Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), or equivalent) is highly preferred.

The ideal candidate is a commercially minded finance leader with strong technical accounting expertise and a proven track record in financial governance within a public listed company. They possess extensive experience in financial reporting, statutory compliance, external audits and internal controls, while partnering effectively with senior stakeholders to support strategic decision-making.
