A Brief Overview

The Senior Accounting Analyst performs accounting and financial analysis for Asset-Intensive transactions. This role supports the preparation of management reporting for assigned business unit. The role is a one-year fixed-term contract and may be renewed subject to business needs and performance.

What you will do

• Performs month-end financial reporting functions, which may include any or all of the following: preparation of general ledger uploads; reconciling various ledger accounts; updating, reconciling and recording financial results; analysis, compiling and reporting of data based on a US GAAP and Statutory basis; reconciliation of various accounts
• Performs monthly administration tasks which include settlement processing, confirmation of supporting data, treaty compliance, documentation, recording and reconciling information to the general ledger as applicable.
• Identifies, researches, and reports on differences between actual and expected financial results for assigned transactions.
• Assists with set-up activities/processes for new deals, including updating various accounting systems.
• Works and collaborates with other functional and corporate areas in RGA to achieve accuracy, efficiency, and effective accounting practices and procedures and responds to requests from other functional areas on various inquiries.
• Assists with report development and/or updates; addresses financial reporting related questions raised by business unit, area, or function.
• Shares technical expertise with others; recommends process improvements, provides functional advice and/or training as needed.
• Serves as liaison to other business units, areas and functions as needed.
• Maintains SOX documentation and provides as needed; may assist with year-end audit and other internal audits as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Accounting, Finance or equivalent related work experience.
• 3+ Years accounting, auditing, actuarial, or insurance administration experience with GAAP reporting and general ledger application experience.
• PeopleSoft or other accounting software applications experience preferred.
• Financial reporting experience preferred.
• Progress towards CPA preferred.
• Excel skills - Advanced Proficiency.
• Advanced investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to set goals and handle multiple tasks, clients, and projects simultaneously .
