Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including PPAs, EPC agreements, and service contracts, ensuring alignment with ENGIE’s policies and local regulations.
• Provide legal advisory on corporate governance, compliance (e.g., anti-bribery, data privacy), and regulatory matters affecting energy projects in Malaysia.
• Support mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures by conducting due diligence, structuring deals, and coordinating with external counsel.
• Mitigate legal risks by identifying potential issues in business operations and proposing pragmatic solutions.
• Represent ENGIE in dispute resolution, including litigation, arbitration, and mediation, while minimizing exposure.
• Collaborate with regional legal teams to harmonize practices and share best-in-class legal strategies.
• Monitor changes in Malaysian and ASEAN energy laws and advise on their implications for the business.
• Develop and deliver training programs on legal and compliance topics for internal stakeholders.

Requirements

• Qualified lawyer with a degree in Law (LLB or equivalent) and admission to the Malaysian Bar or a recognized common law jurisdiction.
• Minimum 5–8 years of post-qualification experience in corporate/commercial law, preferably in the energy, infrastructure, or utilities sectors.
• Proven track record in contract drafting and negotiation, with exposure to international transactions.
• Strong knowledge of Malaysian corporate law, energy regulations, and compliance frameworks (e.g., Companies Act, RE laws).
• Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to simplify complex legal concepts for non-legal audiences.

Fluency in English (Mandarin or Bahasa Malaysia is a plus).

Experience working in a multinational corporation or top-tier law firm is highly advantageous.

Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
