Senior Project Manager

Seeking a seasoned IT Technical Project Manager to take ownership of large-scale, mission-critical initiatives that will shape the future of the organisation’s technology landscape.

Duties & Responsibilities

An established and forward-thinking South African financial services organisation is embarking on a significant technology modernisation journey. Operating within a highly regulated, risk-intensive insurance environment, the business is investing heavily in its core platforms, digital capability and delivery maturity.

This role is suited to a delivery leader who combines deep technical understanding, structured execution and strong stakeholder influence.

Responsibilities

• Driving core system modernisation and legacy platform replacement
• Ensuring delivery aligns with business strategy, IT architecture and regulatory requirements
• Embedding strong governance, risk management and delivery discipline
• Enabling collaboration across technology teams, business units and external partners

Requirements

• Honours Degree (NQF 8) in a relevant field (Master’s preferred)
• Recognised Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent)
• 8–10 years’ experience leading complex IT or engineering projects
• 5+ years in a senior Technical Project Manager / Programme Manager / Delivery Lead role
• Experience within financial services, ideally short-term insurance
• Hands-on involvement in core insurance platform implementations (e.g. Guidewire, Duck Creek, Sapiens)
• Demonstrated success delivering legacy modernisation or core platform replatforming
