The Role

Strategic Support to the Group CEO

Job Profile

The Strategic Support serves as the operational and strategic extension of the Group CEO. You will be responsible for bringing order to complexity, coordinating executive priorities, driving accountability across the leadership team, ensuring governance requirements are met, and protecting the CEO’s time and focus.

Success in this role is measured not by how efficiently you manage a diary, but by how effectively you enable the CEO and the executive leadership team to operate.

The successful candidate will quickly become the central coordination point between the Group CEO, Executive Chairman, Directors, Regional Directors and key external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Executive Office Leadership

• Manage and prioritise the Group CEO's executive commitments.
• Ensure strategic priorities receive the appropriate attention and follow-through.
• Coordinate complex schedules, travel and executive engagements.
• Prepare daily and weekly executive briefing packs.
• Manage confidential correspondence and executive communications.
• Maintain oversight of all commitments, approvals and outstanding actions.

Executive Coordination

Coordinate all executive forums including

• EXCO.
• Executive leadership meetings
• Strategy sessions
• Governance meetings
• Divisional performance reviews
• Major client engagements

Responsibilities include

• Preparing agendas
• Developing executive packs
• Consolidating reports from Directors
• Reviewing submissions for quality and completeness
• Producing professional board-quality documentation
• Recording decisions and action items
• Driving accountability for agreed outcomes

Executive Business Partnering

Act as a trusted representative of the Office of the Group CEO by engaging confidently with Directors and senior leaders across the Group.

This includes

• Following up on strategic initiatives
• Challenging incomplete or unclear information.
• Asking difficult but necessary questions.
• Ensuring executive decisions are supported by accurate, complete and well-presented information.
• Coordinating business-wide initiatives and monitoring progress.

Strategic Execution

Support the CEO in driving strategic initiatives across the Group by:

• Monitoring key projects.
• Tracking strategic objectives.
• Escalating risks early.
• Coordinating cross-functional initiatives.
• Removing obstacles that delay execution.

Governance & Reporting

Prepare and coordinate

• Executive reports.
• EXCO documentation.
• Performance dashboards.
• Governance records.
• Executive presentations.
• Action registers.

Maintain absolute confidentiality at all times.

Qualification & Experience

• Honours Degree in Business, Commerce, Management or a related discipline.
• Project Management qualification would be advantageous.
• Minimum of 7–10 years’ experience supporting senior executives.
• Previous experience supporting a CEO, Managing Director, Executive Chairman or equivalent executive is highly desirable.
• Experience within consulting, engineering, infrastructure, construction, professional services or advisory environments will be advantageous.
