The Role
Senior HR Business Partner
Job Profile
Henry Fagan is a leading South African consulting engineering, project management and advisory group delivering complex infrastructure and development projects across both the public and private sectors.
As the Group continues its growth trajectory, we are seeking an exceptional individual to serve as a strategic link between HR and business leadership, aligning people strategies with organizational goals to drive performance and growth in one of the most trusted and influential roles within the organisation.

Purpose of the job
The primary purpose of an HRBP is to bridge the gap between human resources and business objectives, ensuring that HR initiatives support the company’s strategic goals and operational needs. The HRBP acts as a trusted advisor to executives and department heads, helping translate business challenges into actionable HR strategies.
Act as a consultant to management on human resource-related issues and provide guidance on talent management, organizational development, employee relations, and HR best practices.
Responsibilities
Strategic Planning and Alignment
- Collaborate with business leaders to understand organizational goals and develop HR strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Analyse workforce trends and provide insights to drive strategic decision-making.
- Participate in strategic planning sessions to ensure HR considerations are integrated into business plans.
Employee Relation and Engagement
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employee relations issues, providing guidance and support to managers and employees.
- Conduct investigations into employee complaints or grievances, ensuring fair and consistent resolution.
- Implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement, morale, and retention.
Talent Acquisition and Management
- Partner with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and develop recruitment strategies to attract top talent.
- Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, including job postings, candidate sourcing, interviews, and offer negotiations.
- Develop and implement onboarding programs to facilitate smooth transitions for new hires.
Performance Management
- Support the implementation of performance management processes, including goal setting, performance reviews, and development planning.
- Collaborate with managers to establish performance expectations and goals for employees.
- Monitor employee performance through regular performance evaluations and feedback sessions.
- Identify training and development needs and coordinate appropriate learning opportunities.
Compensation and Benefits Administration
- Assist in the development and implementation of compensation and benefits programs that are competitive and equitable.
- Conduct salary benchmarking and analysis to ensure pay parity and market competitiveness.
- Educate employees on available benefits and assist with benefit enrolment and administration.
Organisation and Employee Development
- Implement succession planning programs
- Asses organisational effectiveness and recommend interventions to enhance team dynamics, employee engagement, and overall performance.
- Partner with managers to assess learning needs, develop training programs, and support employee development initiatives
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Analyze HR metrics and trends to identify areas for improvement and provide insights to management for decision-making purposes.
HR Project and Initiatives
- Lead or participate in HR projects and initiatives aimed at improving HR processes, systems, and practices across the organisation.
- Ensure timely completion and implementation of projects.
HR Policy and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations by implementing HR policies.
Qualification & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- Honours degree preferred.
- Minimum 12 years of progressive HR experience.
- Minimum 3-5 years in a Business Partnering role.
- Demonstrated experience in talent management, organisational development, strategic planning and alignment.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to use data to drive decision-making and measure HR effectiveness.
- Understanding of the Built and engineering environment is advantageous.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Required to travel to regional offices
