Regional Sales Manager | Market Access Healthcare SA

Job Context

To drive consistent sales growth, increase market share, and achieve regional revenue targets. The role focuses on identifying and developing new business opportunities, strengthening customer relationships, and leading a high-performing sales team through effective coaching, performance management, and the execution of commercial strategies.

Key performance areas

Sales Leadership & Business Growth

• Deliver regional sales, market share, and profitability objectives in line with Healthcare SA strategic goals.
• Identify, analyze, and capitalize on new business opportunities to drive sustainable growth.
• Develop and execute regional sales strategies aligned with company objectives.
• Drive achievement of sales forecasts and regional performance targets.
• Monitor sales activities and regional expenses to ensure budget compliance.

Sales Force Management

• Lead, motivate, develop, and manage a team of Sales Representatives across the region.
• Conduct regular in-field coaching and mentoring to improve sales capabilities, customer engagement, and execution excellence.
• Manage recruitment, onboarding, training, development, and performance management of team members.
• Provide ongoing feedback, corrective coaching, and performance improvement plans where required.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance.

Customer & Stakeholder Management

• Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, healthcare professionals, wholesalers, and key opinion leaders.
• Ensure effective regional stakeholder engagement to support business objectives.
• Represent the company at congresses, trade meetings, CME/CPD events, and industry forums.
• Act as an ambassador for DP World Market Access Healthcare SA, demonstrating company values and principles.

Sales Operations & Analytics

• Monitor sales force effectiveness and call coverage through CRM/SFE systems.
• Utilize data analytics and sales reports to identify trends, opportunities, and performance gaps.
• Compile and present regional business reviews and Sales Operating Plans on a quarterly basis.
• Ensure accurate reporting of sales activities, regional performance, and business opportunities.
• Support forecasting activities and collaborate with Marketing and Commercial teams to optimize product performance.

Compliance & Governance

• Ensure adherence to company policies, industry regulations, and governance requirements.
• Promote ethical selling practices and compliance with the South African Code of Marketing Practice.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation and reporting.

Qualifications required

• Honours degree (NQF Level 8) in Life Sciences, Business, or related field. Additional business qualifications are an advantage.

Skills and Experience required

• Up to 8 years of experience in pharmaceutical sales, with at least 5 years managing and leading pharmaceutical sales teams experience.
• Demonstrated track record of consistently achieving and exceeding sales targets.
• Experience within the South African pharmaceutical, pharmacy and/or hospital environment.
• Experience within the private and public sectors is desirable.
• Multinational experience is desirable but not mandatory

Technical Competencies

• Strong pharmaceutical sales and commercial acumen.
• Sales force effectiveness (SFE) and CRM management experience.
• Advanced analytical, forecasting, and reporting capabilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong understanding of pharmaceutical industry regulations and compliance requirements.
