Database Administrator

Introduction

Our client in Corporate Commodities Industry, requires the services of a Database Administrator

to join their team.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key performance areas

• Administer and maintain Microsoft SQL Server database environments
• Develop and enhance T-SQL scripts and database functions
• Troubleshoot and resolve server, database, and data-related issues
• Manage server and database security
• Monitor and maintain SQL environments to ensure optimal performance
• Create and manage reports and dashboards based on business requirements
• Extract, investigate, and analyse data as required
• Test data for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with project requirements
• Document systems, processes, and investigations
• Provide technical support to internal users
• Investigate issues and escalate problems when necessary

Desired Experience & Qualification

The successful candidate must have

• Matric with a Degree/National Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering or MCITP qualification
• Must have at least 2-3 years’ of SQL DBA & SQL Development experience
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2012, 2017, and 2019, including database administration, installation, and troubleshooting
• Excellent computer literacy (MS Office – Outlook, Word & Excel)
• Automation and programming skills would be advantageous
• Strong knowledge of T-SQL scripting, backup and recovery, replication, and database security
• Experience with SQL query and stored procedure performance tuning
• Knowledge of log shipping, disaster recovery solutions, and database partitioning
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively under pressure when required
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment
• Must have a driver’s licence
