Logistics Scheduler - Transport and Supply Chain Industry

Introduction

Our client, a leading transport, logistics and supply chain services provider in Kraaifontein wants to appoint a Logistics Scheduler to own the scheduling and control-tower execution of transportation loads: confirm capacity, allocate vehicles/drivers, brief transporters, activate tracking, and keep every trip on plan.

The Scheduler is the operational heartbeat of the squad, ensuring that Logistics Co-ordinators can focus on customers while you protect service levels, reduce risk, and keep the paperwork clean.

Technology and innovation is deeply embedded into everything the company does, and will form a massive part of your day-to-day exposure and performance.

No experience of scheduling is required as all candidates will undergo a full year of in-house training at the company.

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain the daily schedule: confirm collections/deliveries, equipment requirements, and time windows.
• Secure and confirm capacity: allocate carriers/vehicles, confirm driver details, and ensure availability is locked in.
• Issue and track load confirmations: validate instructions, loading notes, and documentation before release.
• Activate and monitor tracking: ensure check-calls/telematics compliance; update ETAs and statuses in real time.
• Run exception management: delays, breakdowns, loading issues, route changes—solve routine issues and escalate risks early.
• Brief and support drivers: SOP reminders (securement, seals, photos, corner plates, etc.) and site-specific rules.
• Drive POD collection and document completeness: chase PODs, photos, and supporting docs; hand off clean packs to Ops Admin/Finance
• Send structured updates: daily load-in-motion summary, risks, next actions, and overnight watch-load handover where needed.
• Support co-ordinators: help with peak-volume coverage, late bookings, and urgent recoveries.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Must-have experience & skills

• Some exposure to dispatch/scheduling, road freight operations, or control-tower execution (or demonstrably strong transferable ops experience) – not essential as all candidates will undergo a one year training period.
• Strong attention to detail and time management; comfortable managing many moving parts simultaneously.
• Confident communicator (phone/WhatsApp/email); able to be firm and professional with carriers and drivers.
• Comfortable with systems: Google Workspace, CRM/TMS (e.g., Monday.com), spreadsheets, and tracking tools.
• Solid operational fundamentals: understands ETAs, time windows, equipment types, and basic compliance checks.
• Documentation discipline: confirmations, load notes, and PODs must be clean and timeous.
• Fluent in English and must be able to understand Afrikaans

Qualification

A minimum of matric/grade 12 while any tertiary qualification will be a benefit.

Package & Remuneration

R12 000 to R20 000 per month ctc
