Legal Counsel | Global Investment Firm

A rare opportunity for a high-calibre commercial attorney to join the international legal team of a globally recognised investment firm.

This role is ideally suited to an admitted attorney currently practising at a leading commercial law firm who is looking to make a first move in-house and play a more strategic role within a sophisticated international business.

Working closely with senior executives, tax specialists, regulators and external counsel, you will advise on complex commercial, tax, corporate and trust-related matters across multiple jurisdictions, including South Africa, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates and Mauritius.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney in South Africa.
• Minimum 6 years' post-admission experience.
• Articles completed at a leading commercial law firm.
• Strong commercial law background with exposure to complex commercial transactions and agreements.
• Sound understanding of tax law, company law and trust law.
• BCom LLB degree.
• LLM in Taxation, HDip Tax or similar postgraduate tax qualification advantageous.
• Exceptional drafting, analytical and stakeholder management skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, negotiate and enforce commercial agreements and legal documentation.
• Advise on a broad range of commercial, legal and regulatory matters.
• Provide legal guidance on new products, strategic initiatives and business operations.
• Work closely with regulators, advisors and legal teams across multiple jurisdictions.
• Monitor and interpret legal and regulatory developments and translate them into practical business solutions.
• Prepare regulatory and policy submissions, including submissions relating to tax matters.
• Manage external counsel and support the continued development of the legal function.
