Project Manager Engineering - Oil and Gas Industries

Introduction

Our client, a leading mechanical engineering concern in Cape Town, is looking to appoint a Project Manager with a solid work exposure and experience in the oil and gas industries and in refinery work. Candidates who had prior working experience with De Beers on the off shore diamond mining projects should apply.

The person would be responsible for the coordination of the project, from quotation to installation of the complete project, by ensuring the safety of stakeholders, client satisfaction, and quality of work within the agreed time and budget.

The ideal candidate would have a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent and have at least 5 years of relevant mechanical project management experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties

• Understanding client’s requirement and assist him in defining the project requirements when needed (raw materials, technical requirements, surveys on site etc.)
• Liaising with Suppliers and Sub contractors to get quotations as per technical requirements. Finding new suppliers when needed and negotiate prices, terms, and conditions
• Participating in projects kick-off meetings with other departments to determine project requirements
• Participating in project evaluation and quotes to be approved by Project Manager/ Operations Manager
• Acknowledgement of receipt of clients purchase order and verifying it against the offer
• Closing of projects, including making the final inspection with the client and obtaining sign-off
• Managing client relationships
• Participating in the QA and Safety Management systems development
• Ensuring personnel compliance with Company and client QHSE policies and systems
• Liaising with HSE coordinator when specific project related HSE procedures are needed
• Complying with all relevant health, safety, environmental, quality, legal and regulatory requirements as stipulated by Company requirements
