Introduction
We are seeking a hands-on Transport Operations and Compliance Coordinator with experience in a service-delivery environment. This role combines client consultation, reservations support, transport operations, after-hours standby duties and Health and Safety compliance.
The successful candidate will also act as the Office Health and Safety Representative and help ensure that the operation remains audit-ready for quarterly compliance reviews.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assisting with sales, reservations and loading of bookings
- Scheduling vehicles and drivers for transport services
- Preparing waybills with instructions for Drivers and Guides
- Briefing Drivers and Guides to ensure they fully understand what is expected of them
- Dispatching Drivers and Guides for their transport service
- Doing after-hours standby duty to deal with queries, breakdowns, service changes, etc.
- Assisting with practical vehicle-, Driver- and other operational matters
- Investigating incidents and accidents
- Assisting with administrative duties to ensure that operations run smoothly
- Assisting with breach-of-contract meetings involving Drivers and Guides

- Good, practical problem-solving abilities; must be persistent and search until a solution is found
- Good people- and communication skills, with a good verbal and written command of English
- Confident to give clear instructions and stand by operational decisions, even when challenged
- Whilst assertive, also able to maintain strong trust relationships with colleagues, Drivers and Guides
- High standards for the quality of own work and the quality of services delivered
- Willing and able to work long hours, when necessary
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum Grade 12
- Proven experience being responsible for a compliance-based project or assignment
- 10 years’ experience in a responsible position, within a service-delivery/sales operation
- Strong practical problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse moving parts and find workable solutions
- Intermediate computer literacy (MS Office – especially Excel)
- Code B driver’s licence and own reliable transport
- Flexibility regarding working hours, e.g. early starts (06:00) and late finishes (19:00) when necessary
- Able to do after-hours standby duty in the evening, over weekends and on Public Holidays, on a rotation basis
- Proven experience in operations and/or logistics
Advantageous
- Proven experience in vehicle scheduling
- Prior operations experience in travel and transport
- Qualification in Tourism and/or Logistics
- Experience in the Tourism Industry, especially in sales and the capturing of bookings
