Job Overview
Reporting to the Senior Account Director, the Medical Writer is responsible for developing high-quality and scientifically accurate content to support integrated medical communications for our client's prescription medicines (pharmaceutical company).
This role combines scientific knowledge & understanding, storytelling, strategic thinking, HCP persona understanding and business acumen to translate complex data into clear, compliant, and compelling communications across multiple assets and channels.
Key responsibilities
- Scientific & Content Development
- Develop high-quality medical and scientific content across a range of deliverables, including slide decks, marketing materials, content, and digital assets
- Ensure all materials are accurate, evidence-based, and compliant with regulatory and editorial standards
- Translate complex clinical and scientific data into clear, concise, and audience-appropriate messaging
- Therapeutic & Brand Expertise
- Build and maintain a strong understanding of assigned therapeutic areas, disease landscapes, and client brand portfolios
- Provide informed input on content strategy, understand and translate content flow and medical communication approaches
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with client marketing teams to develop content and materials that support brand strategy and drive HCP engagement across channels
- Translate medical and scientific insights into commercially relevant,
- customer-centric content aligned to brand objectives
- Support the development of omnichannel materials (e.g., brand portals, email journeys, digital assets, event content) tailored to different HCP segments
- Collaborate with internal strategy, account, and creative teams to ensure consistency of messaging across touchpoints
- Incorporate insights from brand team feedback to optimize content effectiveness and engagement
- Project & Account Collaboration
- Work closely with regional and local cross-functional teams (account management, strategy, creative) to deliver integrated solutions
- Participate in client meetings, including kick-offs, status updates, and strategic discussions
- Ensure timely delivery of projects while maintaining high-quality standards
- Business Development Contribute to asset proposal development, pitches, and new business opportunities
- Proactively suggest innovative content ideas and communication solutions to support account growth
Requirements
- Degree in a life sciences discipline (BSc, MSc, PhD); healthcare qualifications (e.g., MD, Pharm
- D, Nursing or allied health) are advantageous4-5 years’ experience in medical writing, scientific communications, and/or healthcare content development
- Able to demonstrate thorough understanding (i.e., biology, treatment modalities, MOA) of a major disease area (e.g., oncology, hematology, immunology) and drug products (e.g., medical and commercial perspectives)
- Prior experience in a medical communications or healthcare agency environment preferred
- Language requirement – preferably bilingual (Traditional Chinese/Cantonese & English)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt tone and messaging for different audience segments and seniority (e.g., HCPs, internal stakeholders)
- Strong ability to interpret, synthesise, and translate complex scientific data into clear, concise, and engaging content
- High attention to detail, with solid editorial, referencing, and quality control standards
- Familiarity with content development processes in regulated environments (e.g., MLR review) is an advantage
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel); experience with content management or digital platforms is a plus
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and stakeholders
- Demonstrates both independent ownership and effective cross-functional collaboration
