Software Engineer Graduate Trainee (Android)

Software Engineer Graduate Trainee role focused on Android app development at Motorola Solutions in Penang, Malaysia.

Your Role

Key responsibilities include

• Design, develop, test, and deploy Android applications per requirements and UI/UX specifications.
• Implement new features and enhance existing product features as an individual engineer.
• Participate in all product development stages: requirement definition, design, implementation, and testing.
• Analyze software requirements for design feasibility within quality, time, and cost constraints.
• Coordinate and participate in software design and code reviews.
• Create and execute unit, integration, and system tests.
• Collaborate with front-end and test teams to ensure successful feature deployment.
• Work in multi-site worldwide development teams with inter-group and intra-group collaboration.
• Meet project deliverables and timelines in a dynamic environment.
• Adhere to team performance and quality metrics.
• Collect and analyze data affecting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
• Develop intellectual property for the company.
• Contribute to improving existing software development processes.

About You

The company is looking for candidates with

• Bachelor’s Degree in Software, Electronic, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
• Good programming skills in Android native languages Java and Kotlin.
• Solid understanding of Android SDK, Android Studio, and related tools.
• Knowledge of mobile architecture patterns such as MVP and MVVM.
• Knowledge of AOSP and customizations.
• Good knowledge in real-time embedded software development for communication devices or consumer products is an advantage.
• Knowledge or experience with LTE and DMR specifications is a plus.
• Strong system debugging and analytical skills.
• Experience or proficiency in Agile/Scrum development methodologies is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively across functional teams.
• Flexibility to accommodate short notice work arrangements due to project/business needs.
• Willingness to work in Bayan Lepas, Penang.
