Environmental Engineer (ISO14001 EMS & Compliance)

Job Summary

Boon Siew Honda is seeking a qualified and experienced Environmental Engineer (ISO 14001 EMS & Compliance) to join our team in Batu Kawan, Penang.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and improving the company’s Environmental Management System (EMS), ensuring compliance with ISO 14001 requirements, DOE regulations, and environmental standards. The role will also act as the key coordinator for environmental audits, Scheduled Waste Management, and continuous environmental improvement initiatives within our manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate ISO 14001 EMS internal and external audits, including audit preparation, documentation, follow-up actions, and closure of findings.
• Act as a Certified ISO 14001 EMS Internal Auditor and conduct internal EMS audits to ensure continual compliance and improvement.
• Maintain and improve Environmental Management System procedures, objectives, targets, and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with environmental legal requirements from the Department of Environment (DOE) and other relevant authorities.
• Manage Scheduled Waste Management activities, including:
• Scheduled waste identification, classification, labeling, storage, and disposal.
• Maintaining scheduled waste records, inventory, and documentation.
• Coordinating waste collection and disposal activities with licensed contractors.
• Ensuring scheduled waste storage areas comply with DOE requirements.
• Monitor environmental aspects such as wastewater treatment plant operations, waste reduction initiatives, pollution prevention programs, and environmental performance.
• Prepare environmental reports and documentation for audits, management review, and regulatory inspections.
• Coordinate corrective and preventive actions related to environmental findings and non-conformities.
• Provide environmental awareness training and guidance to employees and contractors.
• Work closely with Safety & Health, Facilities, Production, and other departments to support EHS compliance.
• Participate in Kaizen and continuous improvement activities related to environmental performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• Certified ISO 14001 Environmental Management System Internal Auditor.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in EMS, environmental compliance, or EHS-related roles, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 14001 requirements, Scheduled Waste Management, and DOE regulations.
• Experience in environmental audits, regulatory compliance, and environmental reporting.
• Familiar with eSWIS reporting, wastewater treatment plant management, and environmental monitoring will be an added advantage.
• Good communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Pay: RM4,000.00 - RM6,000.00 per month
