Job Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Finance & Accounting Manager to oversee the daily accounting operations for a cannabis business operating in a regulated environment. This role requires strong QuickBooks expertise, experience managing high-volume transactions, and the ability to navigate cannabis-specific financial compliance (280E, cash controls, and inventory tracking).

This is a working manager role, meaning you will be directly involved in the day-to-day accounting activities while also supporting financial oversight, compliance, and process improvements. The ideal candidate is comfortable operating in a fast-paced, highly regulated, and largely cash-based environment.

Key Responsibilities

Hands-On Accounting

• Perform and oversee daily accounting operations:
• Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• General Ledger (GL) entries, journal entries, and reconciliations
• Manage high-volume transactions and maintain accurate records in QuickBooks
• Execute month-end and year-end close
• Prepare financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
• Perform bank, cash, and account reconciliations
• Maintain detailed and audit-ready financial documentation
• Support ongoing bookkeeping functions as needed

Leadership

• Provide oversight to bookkeeping/accounting support staff
• Collaborate with leadership on financial health and reporting
• Recommend improvements to scale accounting operations as the business grows

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred).
• 5+ years of experience in financial management, preferably in the cannabis, manufacturing, or retail industry
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, tax laws, and regulatory requirements
• Experience with financial software e.g., QuickBooks Online preferred
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Experience working in a high-regulation industry is a plus
• Must pass background checks and comply with state cannabis regulations.
