Drilling Engineer

Our client

a major independent oil and gas company, is seeking a skilled Drilling Engineer to join their operational team in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, US. This role involves the planning, execution, and optimization of drilling operations for onshore wells.

You will be responsible for designing well trajectories, selecting appropriate drilling equipment and fluids, managing drilling risks, and ensuring operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and within budget. This position requires a strong technical background and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced field environment.

Key Responsibilities include

• Designing and planning well programs, including trajectory, casing design, and cementing strategies.
• Selecting appropriate drilling fluids, equipment, and technologies to optimize drilling performance and minimize costs.
• Developing drilling procedures and hazard assessments to ensure safe operations.
• Supervising drilling operations on-site or remotely, working closely with rig crews and service providers.
• Monitoring drilling progress, analyzing real-time data, and troubleshooting any issues that arise.
• Managing drilling-related contracts, services, and procurement.
• Ensuring compliance with all HSE regulations and company policies.
• Preparing daily drilling reports, end-of-well reports, and cost analyses.
• Collaborating with subsurface teams (geologists, reservoir engineers) to achieve drilling objectives.
• Continuously seeking opportunities to improve drilling efficiency, reduce non-productive time (NPT), and enhance safety performance.

The ideal candidate will possess

Bachelor's degree: in Petroleum Engineering or a closely related engineering field.

Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in drilling engineering, with hands-on experience in onshore drilling operations, is required.

Knowledge: Strong knowledge of drilling mechanics, well control principles, directional drilling, and completion design is essential.

Proficiency: in drilling simulation software and industry best practices is highly desirable.

Skills

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills are critical.

Ability: to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing operational demands is paramount.
