The Host/Hostess position at Ted's Cafe Escondido is crucial in shaping the first impressions of guests as they enter the restaurant. This role is pivotal in setting the tone for the dining experience and ensuring that each guest feels welcome and comfortable.

The Host/Hostess is responsible not only for greeting guests with a friendly smile and enthusiastic demeanor but also for managing seating arrangements efficiently and maintaining communication with the management team regarding wait times and large parties. The position requires a positive attitude, punctuality, and adherence to the company’s guidelines, policies, and health and sanitation standards.

In this full-time or part-time hourly role, paying $10 per hour, the Host/Hostess will perform a variety of duties that support the restaurant’s mission to provide exceptional service. This includes anticipating guest needs, turning tables quickly and efficiently without making guests feel rushed, and ensuring that guests’ experiences are seamless from arrival to seating.

The role also involves familiarity with all four host positions—runner, greeter, hospitality, and podium—and requires the ability to multitask and work under pressure during busy service times. Physical demands include standing or walking for over eight hours daily and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
