Duties

• Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including restorative, prosthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring precision and efficiency.
• Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize patient comfort and treatment quality.
• Take and develop dental X-rays and 3D scans, adhering to infection prevention management and aseptic techniques to ensure safety and accuracy.
• Manage dental instrument processing, sterilization procedures, and maintain clinical cleanliness in accordance with infection control policies.
• Update and maintain accurate medical records using EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
• Support patient management by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow using patient management software.
• Assist with medical documentation and coding for procedures to facilitate billing processes while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations.
• Educate patients on treatment plans, oral health practices, and post-procedure care to promote ongoing oral health maintenance.

Skills

• Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside support, dental instrument handling, and endodontic or oral surgery assistance.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures across general dentistry and pediatric dentistry specialties.
• Experience operating dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, sterilizers, and other dental tools with strict adherence to infection prevention standards.
• Familiarity with EMR systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Epic or similar software for medical records management.
• Ability to interpret medical terminology accurately for documentation and coding purposes.
• Excellent patient care skills with a focus on clinical confidentiality policies and healthcare infection control expertise.
• Knowledge of medical documentation practices including medical coding and record keeping in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
