Job Summary
The Teacher is responsible for developing and implementing lesson plans aligned with Florida's State Standards, utilizing direct instruction and adapting methods to meet the needs of all diverse learners, including MTSS, ELL, and ESE students.
A core function is maintaining comprehensive compliance and audit-ready records, including submitting weekly lesson plans detailing all support and accurately logging student attendance, grades, and specific accommodations for IEP/504/EP plans.
Teachers are required to prepare students for and proctor all state-mandated and in-house benchmark assessments, routinely analyzing content area data to inform instruction and track student growth.
The Teacher implements the school's MTSS process in the classroom, ensures consistent enforcement of rules, and maintains regular, documented communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and attendance.
- Compliance, Documentation & Audit Readiness
- Complete role-specific Florida Model training on Behavioral Threat Assessment (BTA), including annual refresher courses.
- Comply with all district and state teacher training and reporting requirements, including but not limited to ethics, safety protocols, and child abuse reporting.
- Maintain accurate and timely teacher records of content area grades and specific intervention supports for all MTSS tiered students in accordance with identified tiered intervention needs to be provided in the students’ master classrooms and Direct Instruction Classes.
- Maintain accurate and timely teacher records of student attendance, and specific accommodations for IEP/504/EP plans.
- Maintain accurate and timely teacher records of students’ attendance, and specific language acquisition support for all ELL students dependent on each student’s language acquisition level.
- Submit weekly lesson plans for assigned content areas; lesson plans to clearly identify ESE, ELL and MTSS supports for identified students.
- Forward content area credit completion course data to academic advisors for final credit approval, within 24 hours of students’ course completion.
- Manage classroom inventory, including textbooks, technology, and assigned instructional materials.
- Manage and routinely analyze content area assessments, credit completion, attendance and behavioral data in assigned Master Classroom or Direct Instruction Classes.
- Actively participate in district and in-house ESE, ESOL, MTSS, Data and School Improvement Plan Meetings.
- Assessment and Placement
- Prepare students for and proctor state-mandated assessments, including in-house benchmarks, Florida EOC exams and standardized assessments as determined by the Testing Coordinator.
- Administer quarterly benchmark testing to gauge individual student mastery and inform instructional needs.
- Evaluate student mastery through a variety of tests, projects, and daily assignments to determine readiness for new or advanced coursework.
- Review student coursework daily for accuracy and completion, redistributing assignments via the LMS if they do not meet satisfactory standards.
- Instructional Support & Staff Capacity Building
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with Florida’s standards utilizing direct instruction and multimedia resources.
- Conduct Direct Instruction based on assigned content area
- Adapt teaching methods for diverse learners, including MTSS tiered interventions, ELL and ESE students, providing remediation or enrichment as needed.
- Participate in district and school-wide meetings, monthly department PLCs, and professional development sessions to improve instructional practices.
- Partner with colleagues on cross-curricular projects and multidisciplinary teams to support school improvement initiatives.
- Train students on the proper use of classroom technology and guide students in researching content both within and outside the Learning Management System (LMS).
- Data Monitoring and Student Progress
- Use data from assessments to inform instruction and track student growth based on formative assessments in assigned content area.
- Provide timely, consistent feedback and conduct structured quarterly "learning conversations" with students to discuss their individual progress in assigned content.
- Implement the school’s MTSS process in the Master Classroom or Direct Instruction Classes, ensuring students receive appropriate tiered support based on identified behavioral or academic needs.
- Participate in MTSS and School-Based Team meetings to review specific student data and contribute to establishing intervention plans.
- Work with school-based teams to review reported student concerns and establish interventions to ensure the safety and success of all students.
- Communication & District Liaison
- Maintain regular, documented communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress in assigned content area, behavior, and attendance via digital platforms and conferences.
- Establish, implement and consistently enforce clear classroom rules and routines to foster a safe, inclusive and productive learning environment.
- Supervise students during non-instructional periods, school activities, and field trips, ensuring adherence to district safety policies and discipline procedures.
- Support and promote the charter school’s mission and vision through community events and positive student interactions.
- Any other duties as assigned by the school leadership team.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in related area;
- Current Teacher Certification;
- Willing to acquire Reading Certification and add to state certification;
- Minimum of two (2) years of teaching experience;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel. Word, Powerpoint and Outlook.
