About the position

Glosten is seeking junior or entry-level marine electrical engineers to join our marine engineering group. Glosten is a naval architecture and marine engineering firm that has served the marine industry for over 60 years. Responsibilities

• Take part in advancing the industry by working on modern energy storage systems, hybrid and all-electric vessel propulsion configurations, and advances in power electronics.
• Contribute to electrical generation and distribution system designs that can reduce vessel fuel consumption and emissions and increase reliability.
• Work on the adaptation of technology for future vessel concepts, including fully autonomous vehicles.

Requirements

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in marine engineering, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering.
• Basic knowledge of electrical power system components: generators, switchboards, transformers, circuit breakers, motors.
• Basic knowledge of three phase power system calculations.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or equivalent CAD program.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software packages.
• Excellent written and spoken English language skills.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States. Due to project restrictions, Glosten will only consider applicants with unrestricted access to work in the United States or those eligible for TN visas.
• Some travel and fieldwork are required.
• Some project assignments may require a valid driver's license, current passport, and/or TWIC card.

Nice-to-haves

• Coursework or other experience with electrical power systems and/or industrial control systems is a plus for candidates with a mechanical or marine engineering degree.
• Engineer-in-Training certification is preferred.
