Role Description The Survey Crew Chief is a full-time, on-site role based in Mandeville, LA. This position leads a field crew in performing a wide range of land surveying tasks, including organizing daily assignments, setting up equipment, and ensuring accurate data collection.

The Survey Crew Chief is responsible for interpreting project plans, establishing control points, directing field measurements, and documenting field notes and sketches. Day-to-day activities include coordinating topographic, boundary, and ALTA survey work, communicating with project managers about progress and issues, and verifying that field work meets company standards and applicable regulations.

The role also involves maintaining equipment, promoting a safe work environment, and mentoring crew members to support efficiency and quality.

Qualifications

• Strong land surveying skills, including experience with Boundary Surveys and ALTA Surveys.
• Proficiency in Topographic Surveys and related field data collection methods.
• Hands-on experience using Total Station equipment and associated surveying instruments.
• Working knowledge of survey computations, coordinate geometry (COGO), and basic drafting or CAD software.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, legal descriptions, and survey plats.
• Demonstrated leadership in directing field crews and organizing daily field operations.
• Commitment to safety practices, quality control, and accurate recordkeeping in the field.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to work outdoors in varying weather and terrain conditions.
• Previous experience as a crew chief or senior field surveyor is preferred; relevant certifications or licensure are a plus.
