Senior BI Analyst – Power BI

Location: UK based with frequent European travel (London, Amsterdam, Berlin, Munich)

Salary: £90,000–£125,000

Travel: Up to 80% across European portfolio companies

About the Role

A leading private equity firm is seeking a Senior BI Analyst to join their Data & BI team, which sits within the wider IT & Technology function. The role is Power BI-focused but goes far beyond dashboard development, requiring a strong understanding of data, analytics, and finance.

You will work across the full BI lifecycle, including

• Gathering and translating business requirements from finance, procurement, and operational teams.
• Structuring, cleaning, and transforming raw data from legacy systems and unstructured formats (CSV, ERP extracts).
• Developing insightful visualisations and dashboards in Power BI (other tools like Tableau or Qlik may occasionally be used).
• Establishing repeatable processes to ensure data accuracy for management, finance teams, and board reporting.
• Supervising third-party vendors and managing certain BI-related contracts.

The Ideal Candidate

Successful candidates often come from two backgrounds

• Ex-consultants with strong generalist skills, finance process understanding, and stakeholder management experience.
• Startup/Hands-on technical backgrounds with a commercial mindset, able to problem-solve and deliver across diverse technology environments.

Requirements

• Strong Power BI skills (mandatory)
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• Ability to handle messy, unstructured data and create structured outputs
• Flexible, technology-agnostic mindset
• English (mandatory); German (beneficial but not essential)
