Senior Accountant - law firm

Staffmax is pleased to assist our newest client with the hiring of a Senior Accountant or Controller for their medium-sized (15-person) law firm in South Winnipeg.

The preferred candidate will have experience at a law firm. Able to work Monday – Friday with flexible start/end hours, day shift. This is an in-office role

• $35 - 40/hr and bonuses based on performance

Law firm accounting experience is a strong asset and is preferred

Duties

• Full cycle accounting, management of all finances, payables and receivables, and the general management staff and of all accounting matters
• Day-to-day responsibilities include, but are not limited to, handling cheque requests from staff, taking care of GST and PST, handling our payables and receivables, bank reconciliations monthly, year-end reporting requirements, and CDIC report annually
• Preparing monthly financial statements, managing the general ledger, and maintaining strict internal controls.
• Ensuring strict compliance with regulations regarding trust accounts and client funds.
• Supervising the billing cycle, accounts receivable, and collections to optimize cash flow.
• Proven experience in a Controller or senior accounting role, preferably within a law firm.
• Strong understanding of client trust account regulations
• Ability to communicate financial data clearly to non-financial partners.
