- Light Data is seeking a creative, versatile, and motivated Senior Data Engineer to be part of our growing team.
- This team member will lead data engineering projects to develop and maintain data pipelines for our product, as well as help productize those data products and algorithms into our scalable Street
- Light InSight® analytics platform.
- This position reports the Director of Data Science.
Location: Remote in the Canada with strong preference near Vancouver
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain data pipelines for processing data and empowering analytics at scale.
- Optimize pipelines, dashboards, frameworks, and systems to facilitate development of data artifacts. Transform raw data into cleaned, organized and actionable formats. Solve data integration problems.
- Ensure high scalability and performance of software components and systems, with optimal use of machine resources.
- Productize data science algorithms within the StreetLight InSight® platform, in collaboration with the Application Engineering team.
- Define and implement customized and/or cutting-edge solutions for customers
- Interface among our San Francisco, Vancouver and Eastern European teams Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and data scientists to understand data needs. Participate in peer design and code reviews.
Here's what you'll need
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Mathematics or an Engineering discipline from a top university.
- 3-5 years of experience in developing software and/or data products, with programming experience with Python, and one other language (Scala, Java, Rust, ect). Strong skills in algorithms, data structures, technical design and software architecture.
- 2+ years of experience in SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL or Big Query preferred), and good understanding of relational concepts
- Experience with cloud and/or big data technologies
- Strong data analysis skills, statistics, knowing what can/cannot be possible, and ability to visualize data in the best way possible
- Good communication skills - written, visual (presentations), and verbal
- Ability to deliver adequate results on deadline, and make compromises to enable scalability and productization of algorithms
- Quick learner, and a strong team player
Preferred
- Geo-spatial skills are a plus
- Knowledge of transportation data / industry is a plus
The base salary range for this position is $118,000.00 to $175,000.00. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across British Columbia, Canada locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
