About the Role

On behalf of our public sector client, we are looking to fulfill a 6-month contract for a Senior Database Administrator to support various projects for their IT Engineering branch.

The Senior Database Administrator will be responsible to manage and maintain applications, and database platforms hosted in a hybrid on-prem/cloud environment, and applies subject matter expertise in Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL and other database technologies.

Responsibilities

The Senior DBA will provide the following services

• Participates in all initiatives related to database monitoring, automation, optimization, efficiency, capacity planning, emergency response, change management and process improvements.
• Ensures all components of a DBMS including storage, archiving, capacity management, high availability, backup and recovery procedures are built, configured and monitored correctly.
• Maintains data integrity and security (manage roles and permissions of database users).
• Manages Production, UAT and Development database environments.
• Maintains Database DR documentation, procedures, jobs and supports the annual DR test
• Builds and reports on database performance and availability metrics and takes appropriate actions to implement best practices and optimize performance
• Collaborates with development teams, understands current builds and release processes, and makes recommendations for improvement.
• Builds and maintains the CI/CD pipelines to improve developer productivity, agility, and code quality.
• Collaborates with the software engineering teams to implement the technology modernization roadmap, including automation pipelines and new advanced database techniques
• Other task as required

Mandatory Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
• 5+ years’ of experience with on-prem and/or cloud database services
• 5+ years’ of experience in database administration in complex enterprise environments

Desired Requirements

• 5+ years of experience with Database RAC (Real Application Cluster) setup, configuration and support
• 5+ years of experience with MS SQL Server and Oracle Enterprise Database Administration and Database performance and tuning
• 5+ years of experience in installation, configuration and administration of Oracle, MySQL and Postgresql on Linux and Windows
• 2+ Experience with Azure data storage and Azure SQL Database services
• 2+ Experience with OCI services
• Proficient knowledge of programing languages, including Python, SQL, PL/SQL, .NET, and TSQL
• Proficient knowledge of relational database systems, Structured Query Language, relational data modeling and data management principles
