Accounting Assistant

We are looking for an Accounting Assistant to support a busy hotel finance team in New York, New York. This contract opportunity with permanent potential is well suited for someone who wants to build hands-on accounting experience in a fast-moving hospitality setting while working closely with experienced finance leadership.

In this role, you will contribute to core accounting activities, help maintain accurate financial records, and support daily operational reporting.

Responsibilities

• Review, code, and enter vendor invoices with accuracy and within established timelines to keep payables current.
• Oversee the accounts payable mailbox by responding to questions, directing invoices for approval, and helping ensure timely processing.
• Support daily income audit activities by checking revenue information, comparing reports, and flagging irregularities for follow-up.
• Complete routine account reconciliations to confirm balances are correct and investigate variances when needed.
• Partner with the Accounting Manager on regular accounting tasks and assist with the smooth execution of day-to-day finance operations.
• Organize accounting files and maintain clear supporting documentation for invoices, reconciliations, and related records.
• Provide assistance with additional accounting assignments and administrative projects based on departmental priorities.
• Contribute to accounts receivable and bank reconciliation tasks as needed to support overall financial accuracy.
