Commercial Electrician

Role Description The Commercial Electrician role is a full-time, on-site position based in Central/Northern New Jersey. This role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems for commercial and retail facilities, including power distribution, lighting and fire alarm.

Daily tasks include reading and interpreting blueprints, running conduit and wiring, installing panels and fixtures, and performing testing to ensure compliance with codes and safety standards. The Commercial Electrician will troubleshoot electrical issues, perform routine and preventive maintenance, and coordinate with project managers, other trades, and clients to complete work on schedule.

The role also includes documenting work performed, maintaining tools and equipment, and following all company safety policies and OSHA requirements.

Qualifications

• Strong foundational knowledge of electricity and electrical principles relevant to commercial installations.
• Hands-on experience with electrical work, including wiring, conduit installation, panel work, and lighting systems.
• Proficiency in maintenance & repair of commercial electrical systems, with the ability to perform preventive and corrective work.
• Effective troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving electrical faults, system failures, and performance issues.
• Familiarity with electrical engineering concepts as they apply to load calculations, system design, and code compliance.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation for commercial projects.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, including use of PPE and adherence to OSHA and company safety procedures.
• Reliable transportation to job sites in the Newark, NJ area and ability to work occasional overtime or emergency calls.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and time management skills; ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
