Junior Estimator – Public Construction

Pal-Pro Builders is an established general contractor specializing in public construction projects ranging from $1 million to $20 million.

We are looking for a smart, organized, and easy-going Junior Estimator to support our estimating team. This is a hands-on position for someone who wants to learn the complete bidding process while assisting with takeoffs, subcontractor outreach, bid preparation, and public bid submissions.

The right candidate is professional, dependable, detail-oriented, and willing to help wherever needed to keep bids complete, competitive, and submitted on time.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform quantity takeoffs from construction drawings.
• Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and bid requirements.
• Send invitations to bid to subcontractors and vendors.
• Follow up with subcontractors and track bid coverage.
• Organize and compare subcontractor proposals.
• Identify exclusions, clarifications, and possible scope gaps.
• Complete bid forms, qualification packages, and required documentation.
• Assist with bid bonds, insurance information, and compliance documents.
• Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and public bid openings.
• Maintain organized bid folders, proposal logs, and project records.
• Assist the estimator with pricing, bid submissions, and other estimating tasks as needed.

Required Qualifications

• One to two years of experience with a commercial general contractor.
• Experience with quantity takeoffs and construction documents.
• Basic understanding of drawings, specifications, and construction terminology.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PDF software.
• Experience with Bluebeam Revu or similar takeoff software.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and communicate professionally.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally when required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Experience working for a general contractor on public projects.
• Familiarity with prevailing wage, bid bonds, public bid forms, and subcontractor bid comparisons.
• Experience with BuildingConnected, SmartBid, Autodesk, PlanHub, or similar construction software.
