Proposal and Business Development Manager – Maternity Cover

Toronto — Hybrid, minimum 3 days/week in office

Lord Cultural Resources is looking for a strategic and outward-facing Business Development Manager to lead our growth efforts for a maternity leave cover. This is a senior role for someone who thrives on relationship-building, sharp analysis, and leading a small team through the full business development lifecycle — from strategy to signed contracts.

You'll work closely with Managing Partners, Senior Directors, and our marketing team to shape where Lord grows next, and turn that vision into a strong, well-managed pipeline.

What you'll do

Strategy & Planning

• Refine Lord's BD strategy, factoring in performance data, sector trends, and our evolving partnerships.
• Help set revenue targets for FY26 and beyond, by service line, region, or market segment.

Pipeline & Proposals

• Identify and cultivate new client relationships across core and emerging markets.
• Own the full pipeline process: outreach, bid/no-bid decisions, and proposal production.
• Direct and delegate to your BD team, keeping deliverables on track.

Reporting & Insights

• Build and manage a BD dashboard tracking contract value, win rates, and conversion metrics.
• Set clear KPIs for monthly, quarterly, and annual reviews.
• Partner with finance and project management to keep everyone aligned.

External Presence & Leadership

• Represent Lord at conferences and networking events, and grow strategic partnerships.
• Coach and motivate your team, with regular check-ins and clear expectations.
• Champion a collaborative, high-trust culture that reflects Lord's values.

What you bring

• 7+ years in business development, sales strategy, or client relationship management, ideally in consulting or professional services
• Proven success generating leads, growing revenue, and managing a pipeline
• Strong analytical skills, with fluency in Excel and/or CRM systems for dashboards and reporting
• Advanced skills in MS Word and PowerPoint, and comfort working in Excel
• Excellent communication and delegation skills, with real team leadership experience
• Familiarity with the cultural, nonprofit, or public sector is a strong plus
• A genuine interest in culture, museums, and the arts

Compensation/Salary Range: $90,000 - $95,000
