Position Overview

The Communications & Marketing Manager is responsible for leading the organization's brand, communications, and marketing strategy to elevate its mission, strengthen community engagement, and increase visibility among donors, partners, policymakers, and the public.

This position serves as the steward of the organization's brand and voice across all communications platforms and works collaboratively across departments to tell compelling stories that demonstrate impact.

Reporting to the Deputy Director of Institutional Advancement, the Communications & Marketing Manager partners closely with the Advancement, Programs, Executive, and Leadership teams to develop strategic communications that advance fundraising, advocacy, community engagement, and organizational priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Brand Management & Marketing

• Serve as the organization's brand champion, ensuring consistent implementation of brand standards across all internal and external communications.
• Develop and execute an annual communications and marketing strategy aligned with organizational priorities.
• Oversee visual identity, messaging, style guides, and brand positioning.
• Collaborate with program teams to elevate organizational visibility through strategic storytelling.
• Manage relationships with graphic designers, photographers, videographers, printers, and marketing vendors.

Content Development & Storytelling

• Create compelling content that highlights organizational impact and community voices.
• Write and edit:
• Annual reports
• Stewardship and impact reports
• Donor communications
• Newsletters
• Website content
• Press releases
• Fact sheets
• White papers
• Position statements
• Executive talking points
• Speeches
• Op-eds
• Grant support materials
• Interview staff, community members, partners, and participants to develop authentic stories.

Digital Communications & Social Media

• Develop and manage the organization's social media strategy across all platforms.
• Create a content calendar that aligns with campaigns, events, advocacy efforts, and fundraising initiatives.
• Produce engaging written, graphic, and video content.
• Monitor engagement metrics and recommend strategies for audience growth.
• Stay current on emerging digital marketing trends and best practices.

Advancement Communications

Working closely with the Advancement Department, the Communications & Marketing Manager will:

• Develop customized stewardship reports for institutional and individual donors.
• Create campaign messaging for fundraising initiatives.
• Support donor cultivation and stewardship communications.
• Develop marketing materials for fundraising events and campaigns.
• Assist in producing annual reports and impact publications.
• Ensure donor communications reflect organizational impact and strategic priorities.

Executive Communications

Support executive leadership by preparing

• Board communications
• Public statements
• Community messages
• Presentation materials
• Testimony
• Executive correspondence
• Crisis communications when needed

Media & Public Relations

• Develop media materials including press releases and media advisories.
• Build and maintain relationships with media outlets and community partners.
• Coordinate media opportunities for organizational leadership.
• Monitor media coverage and identify opportunities to elevate the organization's profile.

Analytics & Performance

• Track communications and marketing performance using key metrics.
• Prepare monthly reports on website traffic, email engagement, social media growth, media coverage, and campaign effectiveness.
• Use data to inform communications strategies and improve audience engagement.

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, English, or a related field.
• Five or more years of professional experience in communications, marketing, public relations, or nonprofit communications.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar design platforms.
• Experience managing organizational social media platforms.
• Strong understanding of branding and marketing principles.
• Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact).
• Experience managing website content through a content management system (CMS).
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

• Experience in nonprofit communications or philanthropy.
• Experience supporting fundraising and donor stewardship efforts.
• Photography and basic video production/editing experience.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Compensation

The annual salary range for this position is between 50,000 and 54,000. Salary is commensurate with experience in addition to the generous benefits package listed below.

• Retirement program. Enlace Chicago offers a voluntary 403(B) plan which begins at a 1% contribution. An enrollment packet will be mailed to you.
• Paid time off. You will receive 96 hours of Upon Hire hours, which will be prorated depending on your start date. After your 3rd month, you will accrue 3.33 hours per pay period or a total of 6.66 per month . All vacation days are considered above and beyond the approved holiday schedule. Enlace has 12 paid holidays with a Holiday week between Christmas and New Year’s Day that will not be deducted from your PTO.
