The Lake Hotel Killarney is a four-star, 131-bedroom, family-run hotel located on the shores of Lough Lein within Killarney’s National Park.

Built in 1820, it has a rich heritage and has been owned by the Huggard family since the early 1900s, who celebrated 100 years in the Irish hospitality industry in 2013. Team members join a long-standing tradition of warm hospitality and service excellence in a unique natural setting.

Role Description

The Human Resources Manager is a full-time, on-site role based at The Lake Hotel in Killarney. This role oversees all HR functions, including recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, performance management, training and development, and HR compliance.

The Human Resources Manager will manage HR policies and procedures, maintain accurate employee records, and support departmental managers with workforce planning. Day-to-day responsibilities include handling employee queries, supporting conflict resolution, coordinating payroll and benefits with relevant stakeholders, and ensuring adherence to employment legislation and hotel standards.

The role also involves driving engagement initiatives, promoting a positive workplace culture, and supporting continuous improvement in HR practices across the hotel.

Qualifications

• Experience in human resources management, including recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations within hospitality or a similar service environment.
• Strong skills in performance management, training and development, and supporting managers with coaching and feedback.
• Knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and employment law, with the ability to ensure compliance and maintain accurate documentation.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to build trust and collaborate across teams.
• Solid organizational and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and capacity to manage multiple priorities.
• Proficiency in HRIS and standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office), and comfort working with data and HR metrics.
• Relevant qualification in Human Resources, Business, or a related field; professional HR certification is an advantage.
• Previous supervisory or management experience and a strong commitment to inclusive, fair, and respectful workplace practices.
