GTM Strategic Senior Financial Analyst - BPL

We are looking for a Senior Strategic Financial Analyst with experience in commercial finance, FP&A, strategic finance or business partnering roles. Experience within fintech, payments or other high-growth, dynamic industries would be beneficial.

You will bring a commercial mindset and experience partnering with a range of business stakeholders to translate performance into clear financial insight and actionable recommendations.

You will have strong experience in financial forecasting, ROI modelling, investment analysis and business partnering, and be comfortable operating in a fast-moving, high-growth environment where high-quality analysis supports strategic decision making.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Strategic Finance Lead and wider leadership team by providing financial analysis and commercial insights that inform decision making.
• Develop and maintain financial forecasts, scenario models and long-range planning analyses, ensuring commercial plans are evaluated through a robust financial lens.
• Contribute to the preparation and assessment of investment cases, supporting the evaluation of new opportunities, initiatives and resource allocation decisions.
• Build and maintain ROI frameworks and performance tracking tools to help measure business performance and investment effectiveness.
• Translate complex financial data into clear, concise insights and presentations for senior stakeholders, including the Head of Corporate & Strategic Finance, CFO and other business leaders.
• Partner closely with Sales, Marketing and Partnerships teams to understand performance drivers, risks and opportunities.

Barclays’ payments acceptance business provides critical infrastructure to the UK economy, processing billions of pounds of payments annually for both small businesses and domestic and international corporate clients.

In April 2025, we announced a long-term partnership with Brookfield Asset Management to grow and transform the payments acceptance business by broadening the range of services offered, enhancing the experience for both existing and prospective clients.

Leveraging extensive client relationships and deep experience of UK payments, we will create an environment of continuous innovation - activated by Brookfield’s global private equity expertise in payments, technology, operational transformation and corporate carve-outs - to ensure the business is strategically positioned for long-term growth.

Barclays will invest approximately £400m in the new business, the majority of which will be incurred during the first three years. Performance-linked incentives will drive greater alignment between the partners, underpinning the long-term commitment to the transformation.

Barclays and Brookfield will work to create a standalone entity over time, continuing to use the Barclaycard Payments (BPL) brand and acting as the sole payments acceptance services provider to Barclays’ clients for a minimum of ten years.

To be successful as a GTM Strategic Senior Financial Analyst, you should have experience in:

• Qualified Accountant with a recognised professional finance qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
• Proven experience in financial modelling, forecasting and business partnering within a commercial finance or strategic finance environment.
• Experience supporting senior stakeholders and influencing decisions through data-driven analysis.

Some other highly valued skills may include

• Experience working within a Payments or Fintech environment, with an understanding of fast-paced, regulated businesses.

Purpose of the role

To provide financial expertise and support to various departments and business units within the organisation by the gathering, analysis and interpretation of financial data to inform investment decisions, assess financial risks, and support strategic planning.

Accountabilities

• Evaluation of investment opportunities and potential risks through in-depth research on companies, industries and market trends, and preparation of investment recommendations and reports for investment committees.
• Preparation of short-term and long-term financial forecasts to inform strategic planning and decision making.
• Monitoring financial risks and provision of regular reports to senior colleagues and the board of directors.
• Collection, analysis and interpretation of financial data to prepare financial reports, dashboards and presentations conveying financial insights for stakeholders.
