Farm Accountant

Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Farm Accountant to manage financial records, budgeting, and financial analysis for our agricultural operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, familiarity with farm financial management, and the ability to contribute to the financial success and sustainability of the farm.

Job responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the farm, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
• Record and reconcile financial transactions related to farm activities.
• Collaborate with farm management to develop and monitor budgets for various farm activities, including crop production, equipment maintenance, and operational expenses.
• Prepare financial forecasts and identify potential financial risks or opportunities.
• Generate regular financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Provide analysis and interpretation of financial data to support decision-making.
• Process payroll for farm employees, ensuring accurate and timely payment.
• Manage payroll tax reporting and compliance.
• Prepare and file tax returns for the farm, including income tax, property tax, and any other applicable taxes.
• Stay informed about tax regulations and implement strategies for tax efficiency.
• Analyze costs associated with crop production, livestock management, and other farm activities.
• Identify areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Proven experience as an accountant, preferably in an agricultural or farm setting.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial analysis.
• Familiarity with farm-specific financial considerations and regulations.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
