Role Description The Technical Lead DevOps is a full-time, on-site role based in Toronto, ON. This role is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and integration frameworks across customer projects.

The Technical Lead DevOps will collaborate with software development teams to ensure reliable builds, testing, and deployments, while promoting best practices in DevOps, SRE, and cloud operations. Daily activities include guiding technical decisions, reviewing architecture and code, troubleshooting complex systems issues, and mentoring team members.

The role also involves close coordination with stakeholders to align delivery with business requirements, security standards, and performance objectives.

Qualifications

• Strong Software Development skills, with experience in modern programming languages and collaborative development practices.
• Proficiency in Test Automation and Continuous Integration, including building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automated quality checks.
• Hands-on experience with Integration of services and systems, ensuring reliable communication and data flow across platforms.
• Solid understanding of Infrastructure concepts, including cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), IaC tools, and environment provisioning.
• Demonstrated experience in leading DevOps or SRE initiatives, including incident management, observability, and performance optimization.
• Ability to mentor and guide technical teams, with strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and configuration management tools is highly beneficial.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Required Technical Skills

Platform & Cloud: Azure, Azure DevOps, GitHub Enterprise, Linux/Ubuntu, platform engineering, cloud operations, and hybrid/on-premise integration.

CI/CD & Automation: Azure DevOps Pipelines, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, release automation, build engineering, automated deployment, and reusable pipeline templates.

Containers & Runtime Platforms: Docker, Kubernetes, containerized workloads, environment management, runtime support, and operational stabilization.

Tooling & SDLC: Nexus, SonarQube, source control, artifact management, SDLC governance, change tracking, approvals, release integrity, and auditability.

Scripting & Engineering: PowerShell, Bash, Python, Java-based application delivery, PostgreSQL, automation design, troubleshooting, and technical documentation.

Security & DevSecOps: Security gates in CI/CD, secrets management, vulnerability-management integration, supply-chain controls, policy-driven delivery, and secure-by-design practices.

Preferred Experience

8+ years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, Release Engineering, or Software Delivery.

Experience running or technically steering enterprise-scale CI/CD and platform-engineering capabilities.

Experience managing technical intake, delivery queues, prioritization, backlog health, and competing stakeholder demand.

Experience supporting mixed environments that include cloud, on-premise, Kubernetes, containerized workloads, legacy platforms, databases, and enterprise integration points.

Experience coordinating technical work across full-time employees, contractors, co-op students, offshore resources, and project-based contributors without acting as the formal people manager.

Experience supporting modernization, stabilization, risk reduction, automation, and operational maturity initiatives.
