Business Development & Operations Manager

Overview

REQCE Commercial is a New York City commercial real estate brokerage handling retail, office, and industrial leasing across Manhattan and Brooklyn. We are hiring one person to own the front end of the business: pitching landlords and tenants, running our outreach campaigns, and making sure the team supporting those campaigns actually executes.

This is not a support role and it is not a desk job with a phone on it. You will be in rooms with building owners, following up relentlessly, and holding a small team accountable to real output.

We are a small firm, which means the person in this seat has genuine influence over how it runs. We are looking for someone who wants that — who treats the business like it is partly theirs, brings problems to the table with a proposed fix already attached, and does not need to be told what needs doing twice. Responsibilities

Pitching and business development

• Meet with and pitch building owners, landlords, and prospective tenants on REQCE's leasing services

Running outreach campaigns

• Execute cold calling, email, and canvassing campaigns targeting building owners and prospective tenants
• Log every touch, callback, and outcome in our CRM — nothing lives in your head or in a notebook
• Report campaign performance weekly: contacts made, conversations had, meetings booked, opportunities sourced

Managing the support team (2 to 3 people)

• Directly manage a small remote support team with overlapping hours
• Assign daily tasks, set clear expectations, and verify work is done correctly, not just done
• Spot-check data quality, chase down what is missing, and catch problems before they reach a client
• Build the routines and checklists that keep the team running whether or not you are watching
• Improve the process. When something is inefficient, redesign it and bring us the new version.
• Represent the firm at property tours, walkthroughs, and in-person meetings across Manhattan and Brooklyn
• Build and maintain relationships with owners, property managers, and tenant decision-makers
• Own follow-up completely. Every conversation gets a next step, and every next step happens on time.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in sales, business development, recruiting, leasing, or a similar role where you were accountable to a number
• Genuinely comfortable picking up the phone and walking into a room full of strangers
• Competitive and aggressive about winning business, without being someone people dread hearing from
• A problem solver. When something breaks, you arrive with two or three options rather than a description of what broke.
• Deliberate and well-considered. You think a step ahead instead of reacting, and you can explain your reasoning.
• Serious work ethic. This is a role where effort is visible and so is the absence of it.
• Genuinely invested — someone who wants to help build this, not fill a seat and wait for instructions
• Organized to a fault. You track everything and forget nothing.
• Prior experience managing or coordinating other people's work, formally or informally
• Strong written and verbal communication. You will be drafting emails that go to institutional building owners.
• Comfortable in spreadsheets and CRMs, and quick to pick up new software

Helpful but not required: commercial or residential real estate exposure, experience managing remote teams, familiarity with CoStar or Airtable.

Not required: a New York real estate license. If you want one, we will support you in getting it.

Compensation

$65,000 to $80,000 base depending on experience, plus an aggressive quarterly bonus tied to meetings booked, exclusive listings signed, and deals sourced through your outreach. Top performers should expect total compensation well above base. In-office in the Garment District, with direct access to the firm's principal.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
