Project Manager – Industrial Hygiene (Senior Level)

Location: Chicago, IL (Greater Chicago Area)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Base Salary: $80,000 – $120,000 / year (commensurate with experience & certifications)

About the Role

AEI Consultants is urgently seeking an experienced Industrial Hygiene Project Manager to join our team in Chicago! In this role, you will oversee and execute hands-on environmental assessments, direct field technicians, manage client relationships, and deliver high-quality technical reports for commercial real estate and industrial projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct and direct field surveys for hazardous and regulated materials in commercial buildings, including asbestos, lead paint, mold, and indoor air quality (IAQ).
• Manage industrial hygiene sampling and environmental assessments from start to finish.
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports, scope of work recommendations, and cost estimates.
• Build and maintain positive client relationships, helping guide them through complex compliance and technical questions.
• Supervise and direct environmental technicians/assessors in the field.
• Assist with proposal development and collaborate with regional teams to support business growth.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: 5+ years of proven experience performing and managing technical industrial hygiene and field assessment projects.
• Field Expertise: Hands-on experience performing tests for asbestos, lead, mold, and IAQ in commercial properties.
• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Safety, Geology, or a related technical discipline.
• Certifications (Preferred/Required):
• Active State Asbestos Certification(s)
• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER
• Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), CAC, CSST, or EPA Mold training is a strong plus.
• Skills: Excellent technical writing, critical thinking, organization, and project management skills.
