Recruitment Manager

Background

WeTrain Washington (WTW) is a training, education, and career development non-profit, founded by Washington’s largest private sector union UFCW Local 3000, that provides high-quality programs and services to current and future 3000 members, union employers, and community members initially in the retail grocery sector with project growth in future years in the healthcare, cannabis, and food processing industries.

WeTrain Washington programs aim to promote job quality, economic security, workforce equity and career pathways for participants through employment pathways for underrepresented communities, upskilling and leadership development training for incumbent workers, the creation and expansion of skilled apprenticeship programs, and the development of training benefits programs for workers.

Primary Functions and Role

The function and role of this position is to increase member participation in the programs, maintain relationships with employers through stores, and increase job placement for WeTrain’s participants with support from the Program team. To that end, this role will work in close collaboration with the program team under the direction of the Deputy Director.

This is an execution-focused role that works directly with members and participants on day-to-day recruitment, retention, and placement activity, in support of the broader employer-partnership, marketing, and program-design strategies led by WTW leadership.

The job responsibilities of this position include the following essential functions.

● Execute the day-to-day recruitment, retention, and the job placement strategy to grow overall program participation with support and direction from the Deputy Director for all WeTrain programs

● Maintain strong relationships with employers and members in alignment for recruiting needs for WeTrain programs

● Maintain and develop relationships with meat managers and other department managers by visiting 50+ stores every 4–6 weeks to generate recruitment referrals and identify job openings for participants

● Serve as a resource for members, answer questions, address concerns and connect members with union representatives as needed

● Share the benefits of the WeTrain programs and how it can support members' career growth

● Identify specific job openings within stores for WeTrain participants and coordinate referrals with the Program team

● Attend recruitment efforts at job fairs, conferences, events, fundraisers, and similar opportunities to grow applicants and raise awareness of WeTrain.

● Coordinate with the Program team to share recruitment opportunities and maintain schedule

● Distribute recruitment-specific flyers and enrollment materials during store visits and at job fairs and recruitment

● Attend Union Rep meetings, with support from the Deputy Director, to share updates on current WeTrain program openings

Skills/Knowledge

● Ability to work effectively with diverse populations

● Prior experience as a union organizer, shop steward, or union representative preferred

● Computer literacy preferred

● Must be able to attend meetings at irregular hours

● Must have a valid driver's license

● Must be able and willing to travel across Washington State

Salary / Benefits

Annual salary range: $82,500–$97,344

Pay: $82,500.00 - $97,344.00 per year
