Role Summary
The Business Systems Analyst / Scrum Master (BSA/SM) is responsible for leading Agile delivery within a dynamic technology environment. This role involves facilitating team processes, translating complex business needs into clear requirements, and ensuring successful project execution.
The individual collaborates across cross-functional teams to drive planning, requirements discovery, and continuous improvement initiatives, including applying practical AI/ML strategies to enhance delivery outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Lead stakeholder discovery sessions to define project objectives, scope, success metrics, and translate needs into epics, features, and user stories with detailed acceptance criteria.
- Manage and prioritize the product backlog, maintaining readiness for development teams, and ensuring actionable stories aligned with project goals.
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies, coach team members on Agile best practices, and improve team throughput and predictability.
- Collaborate with technical leads to plan daily work, identify blockers early, and adjust sequencing to ensure consistent delivery flow.
- Represent the delivery team during cross-functional planning, managing dependencies, risks, and release readiness activities.
- Support Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates by gathering input from engineering, architecture, and security teams, and documenting assumptions and dependencies.
- Engage with engineering, architecture, security, and operations teams to verify solution feasibility, supportability, and compliance with SDLC and DevSecOps standards.
- Assist with release planning, deployment activities, coordination, validation, and communication, including post-release follow-up. Coordinate actions during critical incidents, tracking impact, documenting timelines, and ensuring timely resolution of issues.
- Continually identify opportunities to streamline processes, reduce delivery risks, and improve overall quality, performance, and operational readiness.
- Recognize and promote practical AI/ML and automation opportunities to optimize analysis, planning, reporting, and workflow efficiency.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting technology delivery, such as Business Systems Analyst, Product Owner, Scrum Master, or related roles.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex business needs into high-quality Agile artifacts, including epics, stories, acceptance criteria, and non-functional requirements.
- Proven Scrum Master skills: facilitation, coaching, conflict resolution, dependency management, and driving team continuous improvement.
- Strong systems-thinking capability, assessing impacts across data flows, integrations, and operational processes.
- Technical fluency with SDLC, DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, APIs, logging, and monitoring; able to communicate effectively with engineering teams.
- Practical knowledge of AI/ML concepts, use cases, limitations, and governance considerations, with the ability to apply this knowledge to project management.
- Proficiency with Agile management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or equivalent, and ITSM tools like ServiceNow. Excellent communication skills, capable of preparing clear documentation, presenting to senior stakeholders, and leading cross-team discussions.
