SafeWork NSW is the state's workplace health and safety regulator. About the role

We're looking for a Business Analyst to help improve business processes, systems and service delivery outcomes across SafeWork NSW. In this role, you'll work closely with stakeholders to understand business needs, analyse data and processes, and identify opportunities to improve the way we work.

You'll play a key role in the Digital Solutions and Systems Performance team, supporting strategic initiatives, driving process improvements and providing evidence-based recommendations that support informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse and document current-state and future-state business processes, system interactions and requirements to improve digital service delivery, operational performance and user outcomes.
• Interpret information, data and stakeholder feedback from multiple sources to identify trends, pain points, risks and opportunities for service, system and process improvement.
• Investigate business challenges, define problem statements and translate complex analysis into clear, evidence-based recommendations for a range of stakeholders.
• Engage with stakeholders to gather and document business and functional requirements, develop user stories, acceptance criteria, use case scenarios and process maps, and identify fit-for-purpose digital solutions.
• Support the planning, delivery, testing and implementation of business improvement initiatives and digital projects, including change impacts, user acceptance testing and transition to business-as-usual operations.
• Build strong working relationships with stakeholders, product owners, technical teams and subject matter experts to support collaboration, prioritisation and successful delivery.
• Apply a user-centred approach to improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, manage risks and strengthen the reliability, usability and performance of business systems and operations.
• Support informed decision-making, data governance, privacy, security and compliance by preparing clear analysis, options, recommendations and reporting aligned with relevant policies, standards and business controls.

• About You:
• You'll thrive in this role if you are curious, collaborative and practical, with a strong interest in improving digital services, business processes and user outcomes.
• You will ideally bring: Experience in business analysis, process improvement, project support or a related field.
• Experience developing clear business analysis artefacts, including requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps and documentation that support agile delivery and digital solution development.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear recommendations, reports and practical solutions.A user-centred mindset, with the ability to consider customer, staff and stakeholder needs when analysing problems and recommending improvements.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships, ask effective questions and work with business, product and technical teams to influence practical outcomes.
• The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience supporting projects, programs or organisational initiatives, including testing, implementation or transition activities that help ensure changes are ready for use.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce concise documentation, briefings and recommendations for different audiences.
