Our client is seeking an experienced Product Owner – Data Platforms to join their Product Management team and play a critical role in a multi-year data modernization initiative.

This is an exciting opportunity for a data-focused product leader to help strengthen enterprise data platforms, reporting capabilities, business intelligence, and integration architecture. The Product Owner will be responsible for defining and delivering scalable, high-quality data products that support both internal operations and client-facing solutions.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in data platforms, financial systems, business intelligence, reporting, and data integration, along with the ability to manage a complex product backlog and translate business needs into actionable technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and manage the data platforms product backlog, prioritizing initiatives across master/reference data, reporting, business intelligence, and data integration.
• Define and evolve enterprise data products, including:
• Master and reference data
• Client and account data
• Financial instrument data
• Reporting and regulatory datasets
• Business intelligence and analytics enablement layers
• Translate business requirements into detailed user stories, data requirements, and acceptance criteria for engineering and data teams.
• Partner with Finance, Operations, and business stakeholders to define reporting and analytics requirements.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering and Application Development teams to support data pipelines, data services, APIs, and application integrations.
• Drive data quality, governance, consistency, lineage, and controls across enterprise systems.
• Support scalable data integration using APIs, ETL/ELT, and event-driven architectures.
• Lead prioritization of BI and reporting capabilities, including dashboards, datasets, and semantic layers.
• Monitor platform performance, adoption, and data usability while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Balance modernization initiatives with legacy platform transformation while maintaining continuity of critical reporting capabilities.
• Serve as the voice of the business for data, communicating priorities, tradeoffs, progress, and business value to leadership and cross-functional teams.
• Ensure data products and processes meet applicable regulatory, financial, security, auditability, and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• 7+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, Business Analyst, or similar role within data, analytics, technology, or financial systems.
• Strong experience working with enterprise data platforms, including data warehouses, data lakes, or lakehouse architectures.
• Experience with Master Data Management (MDM) and reference data.
• Strong knowledge of reporting and business intelligence platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
• Understanding of ETL/ELT, APIs, data integration, and event-driven architectures.
• Experience working with financial data domains, such as:
• Client and account data
• Financial instruments
• Transactions
• Balances
• Financial reporting
• Regulatory reporting
• Understanding of data governance, data quality, metadata management, and data lineage.
• Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with Data Engineering, Analytics, Application Development, Finance, and business teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex business and data requirements into clear deliverables.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and prioritization skills.
• Experience within financial services, fintech, banking, investment management, or a related environment is strongly preferred.
