Project Manager

We’re seeking a dynamic Project Manager to play a key role in our Build Management & Assurance division, leading high-profile, global shipbuilding projects. Our Build Management & Assurance division ensures designs are delivered as intended, bridging concept and construction through technical oversight, stakeholder engagement, and on-the-ground project delivery.

About the Role

This is a hands-on role requiring strong shipyard experience. You will work across site and office environments, with regular domestic and international travel. Flexibility and agility is essential to meet changing project demands.

From engaging with trades on the shipyard floor to design teams to working with owners of high-value vessels. You will be responsible for managing a broad range of stakeholders, including in challenging environments.

Key Responsibilities

• As Project Manager, you’ll be hands-on to:
• Develop and implement project management frameworks and tools.
• Integrate ISO 9001,14001 and 45001 into delivery frameworks.
• Support business growth with the Design and Sales teams.
• Assess project performance across construction, quality, and operational efficiency.
• Lead multi-disciplinary teams to meet schedule, budget, and specifications.
• Drive adherence to project assurance governance and processes.
• Engage with stakeholders, including builders, owners, operators, government etc.
• Communicating effectively across all levels, from shipyard personnel to clients.
• Facilitate consultation programs in complex environments.
• Implement risk and change management strategies.
• Monitor compliance with WHS, ISO, Class and Flag State requirements.
• Maintain contract documentation aligned to design intent.
• Provide technical input to resolve challenges and deliver outcomes.

• You must have:
• Demonstrated experience in large-scale shipbuilding or a closely related industry
• Proven ability to work in shipyard environments
• Strong capability to engage effectively across all levels, from trades through to senior clients
• Experience managing diverse and challenging stakeholders
• Australian citizenship or permanent residency
• Willingness and flexibility to travel domestically and internationally
• In addition, the ideal candidate will bring:A degree in Engineering, Naval Architecture, Project Management, or similar
• Strong knowledge of project assurance, contracts, and quality systems
• Demonstrated risk management capability
• Clear, confident communication skills in complex environments
