Senior Scrum Master

On-site 3/4 days onsite in Austin, TX

Our client seeks a Senior Scrum Master to lead Agile delivery for 1–3 teams. The role will steward ceremonies, drive accountability to commitments and milestones, remove impediments, and align team execution with broader program timelines. The Senior Scrum Master will partner with Product, Engineering, and stakeholders, reinforce Agile best practices, and support ongoing Agile transformation.

This is a contract to hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. Rate: $65.00 to $60.00/hr. w2

Responsibilities

• Lead Scrum execution across 1–3 teams, including sprint planning, daily standups, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Drive accountability around sprint commitments, delivery milestones, and team velocity.
• Identify and remove blockers to keep delivery on track.
• Reinforce Agile best practices, including Definition of Ready and Definition of Done.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, and stakeholders to clarify requirements and manage shifting priorities.
• Bridge team-level Agile execution with broader program timelines tracked in ServiceNow SPM or similar tools.
• Support Agile transformation efforts alongside Agile Coaches and leadership.
• Act as a neutral voice to challenge assumptions and ensure stakeholder alignment.

Experience Requirements

• 7+ years in Agile delivery roles with a strong track record as a Scrum Master.
• Prior experience as a Project or Program Manager supporting larger-scale initiatives.
• Experience in hybrid Agile/Waterfall environments.
• Hands-on experience with Jira and Confluence.
• SAFe certification (Agilist or higher) required; PMP is a plus.
• Proven ability to lead through influence and drive accountability without direct authority.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to navigate competing stakeholder priorities.
• Preferred: Experience with HR Technology or HR digital transformation, familiarity with Workday or ServiceNow HRSD, exposure to AI/ML-related projects, Agile transformation or coaching experience, and prior experience as a Product Owner or Scrum Master in complex enterprise environments.
