Cost Accountant

We are looking for a skilled Cost Accountant to join our growing team in Linthicum, Maryland. In this role, you will be an integral part of the full-cycle accounting processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial operations. The focus of this role is job costing, variance analysis, and fixed assets.

This organization is growing both through acquisitions and organic growth due to an increase in demand for their field.

About the Role

In this role, you report to the controller and work with the plant controller to ensure accurate project reporting and scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret accounting information to evaluate results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the financial results of the organization.
• Prepare accurate financial reports by gathering relevant input from business systems and key management and compiling into templates and reports.
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports for management, including explanations of variances to budget.
• Review P&L to identify variances to target with respect to expenses.
• Prepare other financial reports as needed to support monthly business reviews, board meetings, and budget reviews.
• Support expense reviews by analyzing transactions and posting necessary journal entries.
• Assist with the year-end audit process by compiling required documentation, preparing work papers, and generating financial statements.
• Develop budgets and forecasts using financial models, providing accurate assumptions for expenses and supporting community financial planning.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve accounting processes and recommend efficient solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting, Economics, or Finance2 - 5 years' experience in accounting
• Proficient in ASC606

Required Skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Experience with job costing and WIP Schedules

Preferred Skills

• 2 - 5 years' experience in accounting

Pay range and compensation package
