DC Operations Manager

About the Company

Our client is a well-established wholesale distribution business with a broad portfolio of consumer brands. The business is investing in its NZ presence and is looking for a strong operations leader to take ownership of the DC.

The Role

Reporting to and working with senior management, you will take full ownership of the Auckland DC – the team, processes and systems. The DC operates across a high SKU count and multiple brands, and you will be responsible for writing SOPs, building team capability and embedding new system functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all day-to-day DC operations across inbound, outbound, inventory and fulfilment
• Write SOPs and embed processes across both shifts
• Manage and develop Team Leaders and the wider DC team
• Oversee WMS usage and contribute to ongoing system implementation and optimisation
• Manage de-vanning of inbound containers on site
• Manage transport and labour hire partner relationships
• Full P&L accountability for labour and Opex (packaging, pallets and consumable spend)
• Drive continuous improvement and maintain a strong safety culture across the DCKey Skills & Experience

Required

• 5+ years in a high-volume, multi-brand distribution or 3PL environment
• Proven experience leading end-to-end DC operations
• Demonstrated ability to build process and culture in a new or evolving site
• Strong WMS/ERP experience; prior implementation exposure a distinct advantage
• Experience with labour management, transport supplier relationships, and labour hire
• Commercially literate with P&L accountability in a DC context
• Strong people leader with proven performance management and team development capability
• Relevant tertiary qualification in supply chain, logistics, or business preferred but not essential
• Comfortable working alongside the team on the floor — this is a hands-on leadership role, not a desk-based one
