Role Context The Assistant Principal - Pastoral Leadership role supports the Principal and Vice Principal in maintaining a safe, orderly, respectful, and high-performing school environment.
The position oversees key aspects of pastoral care, student achievement planning, assessment schedules, staff evaluation, school improvement initiatives, reporting, professional development, and compliance with Aldar Education and ADEK regulations.
By working closely with senior leaders, department heads, teachers, curriculum support staff, students, and families, the Assistant Principal helps strengthen student progress, wellbeing, accountability, and the overall quality of school life.
Key Responsibilities * Direct and quality assure the daily activities of staff and students to maintain a safe, orderly, and learning-focused school environment.* Support the implementation of pastoral systems that promote student wellbeing, positive behaviour, mutual respect, and responsible learning habits.* Work with the Principal, Vice Principal, SLT, and department leaders to administer the annual school assessment and monitoring master schedule.* Collaborate with senior leaders to supervise, evaluate, and support teachers, supervisors, and curriculum support staff as assigned.* Provide leadership in screening and interviewing applicants for teaching and non-teaching positions where required.* Recommend suitable candidates for interview and support recruitment decisions aligned with school needs.* Implement student achievement improvement actions in line with the school development plan, ADEK regulations, and Aldar Education direction.* Support school improvement plans, standardized testing, remediation programmes, data collection, reporting, and progress monitoring.* Direct the MAP and Exact Path student achievement plan by coordinating testing schedules, assessment processes, and progress-based intervention.* Establish and oversee procedures related to assessment, student attainment, progress reporting, data collection, student records, and archiving.* Collaborate with the SLT on new or changing instructional methods, teaching materials, curriculum strategies, and school programmes.* Help identify, develop, and implement staff CPD plans that improve professional practice, teaching quality, and operational efficiency.* Assist with the completion and timely submission of reports, forms, compliance documents, and data requests to designated stakeholders.* Work with administrators, teachers, and support staff to strengthen team collaboration, communication, and shared accountability.* Promote high expectations for student conduct, school culture, staff professionalism, and parent confidence.* Contribute to strategic planning, operational decision-making, pastoral improvement, and whole-school development priorities.* Ensure school practices reflect Aldar Education standards, ADEK requirements, safeguarding expectations, and regional values.* Perform additional leadership duties as assigned by the School Principal.
Ideal Profile * Bachelor Degree in Education is essential.* Bachelor of Science degree with PGCE may also be considered.* Master s degree is desirable.* Previous experience in senior school leadership, pastoral leadership, student wellbeing, assessment coordination, or school administration is preferred.* Strong understanding of school improvement planning, assessment systems, student progress tracking, and data-informed decision-making.* Knowledge of ADEK regulations, school compliance expectations, and UAE education standards is an advantage.* Experience with American curriculum schools, Massachusetts Common Core, MAP testing, or Exact Path is preferred.* Confident leadership style with the ability to guide teachers, supervisors, curriculum support staff, and student-facing teams.* Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with school leaders, staff, students, parents, and external stakeholders.* Ability to analyze student data, identify improvement priorities, and support targeted intervention.* Professional approach to staff supervision, performance evaluation, recruitment support, and CPD planning.* Positive, solution-focused mindset with the ability to make sound decisions in a busy school environment.* Strong commitment to safeguarding, student wellbeing, inclusion, behaviour standards, and educational excellence.* Genuine understanding and appreciation of the culture, values, and expectations of the region.
