Technical Founder, Commercial Buildings (Talent Pool)

We're building a new venture with a leading global engineering company specializing in flow and motion control technology, focused on commercial and industrial building aftermarket. The problem we focus on is the rising cost and difficulty of keeping buildings running well as the workforce that maintains them changes.

Facilities teams are managing rising maintenance costs, aging assets with little visibility into their actual condition, and a workforce of experienced technicians that's retiring faster than it's being replaced.

We're currently looking for a potential technical founder to lead this venture as it takes shape.

What you'll do

• As technical founder, you'll own the product direction for this venture from the ground up: shaping the product vision, validating the problem directly with asset owners and facilities teams, and turning that into early product concepts worth building.
• Early on, this means hands-on work yourself, close contact with the building owners and operators who'd buy this, and the judgment to know which problems are worth solving first.
• Your background
• Direct involvement/hands-on experience in facilities management, energy compliance, or building operations
• Experience with commercial assets such as office, retail, industrial, or mixed-use
• Exposure to HVAC/hydronic performance, energy compliance codes, or asset condition monitoring
• Familiarity with the cost drivers behind FM contracts, retrofit decisions, and maintenance planning across a building portfolio
• Have built or shipped B2B technical products from the ground up, ideally with exposure to building management systems or remote diagnostics
• Have worked in a startup, venture build, or other high-ownership environment
• What you'll need to demonstrate
• Ability to translate technical depth in building operations and FM into a product vision a customer would actually pay for
• Comfort doing hands-on work yourself in the early stages, before there's a team to delegate to
• Judgment to navigate different commercial asset types and understand what that means for the product
• Capability to work closely with asset owners and facilities teams to understand what they need, not just what's technically interesting
• Ability to operate in a small, unstructured team and make decisions without a clear playbook
• Track record of managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects to completion
